If someone picks up a camera and begins taking photos, is that person an artist? If someone takes a quilting class and begins making quilts, is that person an artist? If someone studies art at the academy, graduates with a degree, and begins creating via a medium of choice, is that person an artist? These are important questions in a world in which we, as “one dimensional people”, are creatively usurped by the commoditization of all aspects of our becoming, including the world of so called artistic expression. This website will struggle with defining all aspects of the artistic endeavour and feature Canadian artists who struggle with this reality.
